    Ginger and Lemon Tea

    This is a foolproof four-ingredient Ginger and Lemon tea, it is perfect for the cold and winter months as well as summer mornings as a refreshing breakfast tea. It is a refreshing, spicy, delicious immunity or gut health booster. This Ginger and Lemon tea is delicious with a subtle hint of sweetness from the added honey. This is a family favourite as well as colleagues at work.

    I love Ginger Lemon Tea, I drink this tea throughout the whole year. This is one of my favourite organic teas to drink daily due to its benefits and flavour. We normally have it after meals while winding down in the lounge or alone in the garden in the early hours of the morning and listening to the birds chirping. It is very simple to make and all the ingredients can be bought in any supermarket or grocery store. 

    Back home in the motherland, The Gambia Ginger drink is one of the nations favourite local drinks. It is normally serve ice cold and sold in schools, street markets or serve in events or ceremony such as naming ceremonies. This is one of the best recipes you will find, it is foolproof and very easy to make using simple everyday ingredients.

    This Ginger Lemon Tea is perfect for breakfast or everyday drink. It can be serve hot or cold depending on your preferences.

    Ingredients

    • Fresh Ginger: This is the main star of the recipe, buy some fresh organic Ginger roots from your local supermarket or grocery store.
    • Water: The recipe's main ingredient is water, which is used to simmer the ginger.
    • Lemon: Buy some fresh organic lemons.
    • Honey: Please add any brand of your favourite honey brand.

    Instructions

    1. Wash and peel the ginger.

    3. Wash the lemons and juice them by squeezing the juice out, set aside.

    5. Bring the tea to simmer on medium heat for 15 minutes and put the heat off. Leave to steep for additional five minutes.

    7. Serve in a mug or heatproof glass, bonne appetite.

    2. Grate the ginger and set aside.

    4. Add the grated ginger and water to the medium saucepan and place in the hub on medium heat.

    6. Pour the tea in a heat proof jug or serving jug. Add the lemon juice and honey, stir and taste. Adjust sweetness to taste.

    Substitution

    • Honey - This can be substituted with any sweetener of your choice.

    Storage

    This ginger lemon tea can be made in batches and store in a tight seal jug in the freeze for a week. When you are ready to serve it, this can be serve cold or heated in the microwave for two minutes.

    Ginger also contains potassium, calcium, phosphorus, magnesium, folate, choline and selenium.

    Description

    This is a foolproof four-ingredient Ginger and Lemon tea, it is perfect for the cold and winter months as well as summer mornings as a breakfast refreshing tea.     Ingredients

    Units Scale
    • 245 grams of fresh Ginger
    • 2 medium fresh Lemons
    • 2 litres of Water
    • 10 Tablespoon of Honey

    Instructions

    1. Peel the ginger and set aside. Use a grater and grate the ginger, then set aside. Wash the Lemons and squeeze the juice, then set aside. 
    2. Now combine the ginger and water in a medium saucepan and leave to simmer on medium heat for ten minutes. Reduce the heat and leave to simmer for another five minutes, then put the heat off and set aside. Cover the lid, Leave to steep for five additional minutes. 
    3. Lastly, pour the ginger tea into a heatproof jug. Add the lemon juice, then stir. Add the honey, stir and taste. Adjust the sweetness according to your taste. This is because we all drink our teas differently, some people like their tea sweet and others do not. 

    Notes

    Serve the tea with a pot of honey on the side, so family members or friends can add some if need be and adjust sweetness according to taste.
